What is the difference between Energy Surge and Anti-Fatigue Caps?

Energy Surge contains adenosine 5'-triphosphate (ATP), which is the main molecule the body uses to store and transfer energy in cells. It is often called the energy currency of the cell. When you take an Energy Surge tablet, it provides a fast-acting dose of pure energy.

Energy Surge is what I call a “use it when you need it” supplement. This means there is no strict dosing schedule to follow. You can take 1–2 tablets shortly before a workout or race, and then every hour during exercise. It can also be especially useful just before a particularly difficult part of a course, such as a tough climb, when you need quick energy.

Although taking it hourly or before a demanding section of a course are both excellent uses, I believe Energy Surge shows its greatest benefits in the later stages of a workout or race. At that point, the body’s natural ability to produce ATP has reduced. Taking Energy Surge then can help “kick-start” the body’s ability to make its own ATP more efficiently.

Potassium/Magnesium Aspartate
A well-known nutritionist explains the benefits of aspartic acid well:
“Because aspartic acid increases stamina, it is good for fatigue and plays a vital role in metabolism. It is good for athletes and helps to protect the liver by aiding in the removal of excess ammonia.”

Studies (Agersborg and Shaw 1962, Hicks 1964, Gaby 1982) show that this combination provides significant support in helping to prevent fatigue. Aspartic acid also combines with other amino acids to form molecules that absorb toxins and help remove them from the bloodstream. It also supports the function of RNA and DNA and helps protect the liver. In addition, the potassium/magnesium aspartate compound increases production of an important substrate called oxaloacetate, which plays a role in energy production. Lastly, it provides the minerals potassium and magnesium, which may help protect against cramping.

OKG
Both ornithine and alpha-ketoglutarate (OKG) provide a readily available source of glutamine in the body without producing ammonia. Glutamine is depleted at a high rate during exercise, but regular glutamine cannot be used as a replacement because it creates ammonia itself. OKG helps increase glutamine levels in the muscle and may also help prevent muscle catabolism. Colgan writes:
“Both ornithine and alpha-ketoglutarate act in the body as an ammonia scavenger.”

Suggested dosing:
Take 2–4 capsules 20–30 minutes before exercise, then an additional 1–2 capsules every hour.
