Why Premium Insurance Caps?

  • 48 vitamins & minerals in highly absorbable forms — no fillers, no shortcuts
  • Formulated specifically for endurance athletes and active individuals
  • Supports faster recovery, reduced fatigue, and a stronger immune system
  • Fills the nutritional gaps left by even the cleanest diet
  • Trusted by Hammer Nutrition athletes across 100-mile events and beyond

Why not just grab vitamins from the Supermarket?

  • Absorption matters: Most supermarket multivitamins use cheap, poorly absorbed forms (e.g. magnesium oxide, cyanocobalamin). Premium Insurance Caps uses highly bioavailable forms your body can actually use.
  • Athlete-specific dosing: Supermarket vitamins are formulated for sedentary adults. PIC is dosed for the demands of training, racing, and recovery.
  • No junk: No artificial colours, no unnecessary binders, no sugar coating — just clean, effective nutrition.
  • 48 nutrients in one: Most supermarket products cover 10–15 vitamins. PIC delivers a comprehensive 48-nutrient formula in a single daily serving.
  • Proven in the field: Used by endurance athletes completing ultras, Ironmans, and multi-day events — not just desk workers looking for a midday energy boost.

FAQS

Why did you choose these four for the Daily Essentials kits?

Q: Of all the products you make, why did you choose these four for the Daily Essentials Kits? And what do these products do?

A: Hammer Nutrition’s Daily Essentials supplements — Premium Insurance Caps, Race Caps Supreme, Mito Caps, and EndurOmega — provide the widest range of benefits for both athletic performance and overall health. They are the cornerstone of the Hammer Nutrition product line and should form the foundation of your supplement programme. Take them every day, whether you are training or not, and benefit from the wide-ranging support they provide.

Why should I choose Premium Insurance Caps?

Q: There are lots of multivitamin supplements on the market. Why should I choose Premium Insurance Caps?

A: Here are 5 reasons to choose Premium Insurance Caps:

1. Optimum amounts, not minimum amounts

Unlike many vitamin and mineral supplements that contain only Daily Value (DV), Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA), or Reference Daily Intake (RDI) levels, Premium Insurance Caps is formulated using Optimum Daily Intake (ODI) amounts of high-quality vitamins and minerals.

Dr Shari Lieberman explains why this matters so much:
“RDIs reflect amounts that are adequate to prevent nutrient-deficiency diseases, and are not tailored for individual needs. In order to attain a state of optimum health and disease prevention, we must take into our bodies optimum — not minimum — amounts of vitamins and minerals.”

Note: Premium Insurance Caps contains excellent levels of B-complex vitamins, in amounts similar to many stress-support formulas. This can make those extra products unnecessary in your supplement routine.

2. Capsules, not tablets

The nutrients in Premium Insurance Caps come in a two-piece all-vegetable capsule. This means they dissolve more quickly and more completely than tablets, so your body can absorb more of the nutrients you are taking in.

Tablets can take longer to break down, which may irritate the intestinal lining and cause stomach discomfort. They can also pass through the digestive system only partly dissolved — or sometimes not dissolved at all. In either case, your body does not receive the full amount of nutrients you have taken, which means you are not getting full value from the product.

3. Highly absorbable, amino acid-chelated minerals

Many minerals are available in several forms, and these forms vary in how well they are absorbed. Some companies use cheaper forms of minerals in their products, such as magnesium oxide or calcium carbonate. Unfortunately, these cheaper forms are not absorbed as well as the amino acid-chelated forms used in Premium Insurance Caps.

4. Multiple digestive enzymes for better nutrient absorption

It is not just what you consume that matters — it is what you absorb. To help your body absorb nutrients more effectively, Premium Insurance Caps includes digestive enzymes such as pepsin and papain.

5. Only useful nutrients, with no “salt and pepper” amounts

Some companies add extra nutrients in amounts so small that they provide little or no real benefit. We call these “salt and pepper” amounts.

For example, some multivitamin and mineral supplements include only 5 mg of coenzyme Q10 or lipoic acid. These are both excellent nutrients, but at that level you are unlikely to experience any meaningful benefit. So while the label may look impressive, the product may not actually deliver results.

All the nutrients in Premium Insurance Caps are included at levels intended to provide real benefits.

Daily Multivitamin use slows cognitive ageing by 60%

This research concluded that taking a multivitamin and mineral supplement daily for three years was associated with a 60% slowing of cognitive ageing.

As most people know, the brain controls many functions included under the term cognition — thinking, learning, memory, attention, perception, processing information, and more. Cognitive ageing and decline are not diseases, but natural processes.

While we may not be able to stop cognitive ageing completely, this research suggests we may be able to slow it down significantly.

This study on daily multivitamin and mineral use and cognitive function was part of a larger study comparing the effects of cocoa extract (500 mg per day of cocoa flavanols) and a standard multivitamin/mineral supplement against a placebo.

The first part of the study focused on cocoa extract versus placebo and its effects on Global Cognitive Function (GCF) composite score, which was based on 19 separate tests and used as the main measure of overall cognitive function. The researchers then looked at the effects of daily multivitamin and mineral use versus placebo on GCF.

While cocoa extract showed no difference compared with placebo, the multivitamin and mineral supplement produced a noticeable improvement in GCF composite score. Lead researcher Dr Laura D. Baker stated:
“Daily multivitamin-mineral supplementation appears to slow cognitive ageing by 60% or by 1.8 years,” and added that the results “may have important public health implications, particularly for brain health, given the accessibility of multivitamins and minerals, and their low cost and safety.”

Why doesn’t Premium Insurance Caps contain iron?

Premium Insurance Caps does not contain iron because most Americans who eat enough calories through a balanced diet already get more than enough iron, making additional iron from supplements unnecessary.

Dr Shari Lieberman recommends an Optimum Daily Intake (ODI) of 15–25 mg for men and 20–30 mg for women. These amounts can easily be exceeded through food alone. If an athlete regularly consumes too much iron above the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) — which ranges from 8–27 mg per day, depending on age and sex — this may lead to premature fatigue and potentially more serious health issues.

According to one respected source:
“Most people have too much iron in their body. Excess iron generates massive free radical reactions. Human epidemiological studies show that those with high iron levels are far more likely to contract cancer and heart disease. A growing body of evidence implicates iron in neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s disease.”

Iron is an extremely important nutrient, especially for endurance athletes. Too little iron can affect oxygen transport to the muscles if haemoglobin levels are low. It can also reduce energy production if myoglobin and mitochondrial enzymes are below normal levels. However, too much iron can also create serious health concerns, as explained above.

If you are unsure about your iron status, a CBC (Complete Blood Count) / Chemistry Profile blood test can show whether your iron levels are normal and whether supplementation is needed

Why is my urine bright yellow after taking Premium Insurance Caps?

The bright yellow colour in urine after taking Premium Insurance Caps is caused by vitamin B2 (riboflavin).

One of riboflavin’s roles is to help co-enzymes break down carbohydrates, protein, and fats. As the flavins in riboflavin are used in the body to metabolise these nutrients, they release flavin rings, which have a bright yellow colour.

That is why urine may appear more yellow after taking Premium Insurance Caps, especially after eating carbohydrates, protein, and fats. This does not mean you are “urinating out all your vitamins” or “making expensive urine”, as some people claim. It simply means the flavins in riboflavin are doing their job in helping to metabolise carbohydrates, protein, and fat. This effect is completely normal and harmless.

Why is vitamin B5 not included in Premium Insurance Caps?

Q: Why is vitamin B5 not included in Premium Insurance Caps? Isn’t B5 a necessary part of B-complex?

A: Vitamin B5 is pantothenic acid, and that is the name often used on multivitamin and mineral supplement labels. Every 7-capsule serving of Premium Insurance Caps contains 100 mg of pantothenic acid / vitamin B5

Are your supplements 3rd party tested?

Yes. Every Hammer Nutrition supplement is 3rd party tested in line with FDA regulation 21 CFR Part 111 – Dietary Supplements.

All raw materials used in each supplement are tested for purity, strength, identity, and integrity. In addition, every Hammer Nutrition supplement is tested at every stage of production — including blending, encapsulation or powder filling, packaging components, and finished goods — before it is approved for distribution.

Why do Premium Insurance Caps sometimes have a fishy smell?

Unlike earlier versions of Premium Insurance Caps, the most recent formula may have a strong medicinal smell or even a fish-like odour. So where does that smell come from?

Part of it comes from the B vitamins, which naturally have a strong medicinal smell. If you open a bottle of a stress formula product — which is usually a combination of B vitamins and vitamin C — you will probably notice a similar smell.

Hammer’s manufacturer also confirmed that Betaine Hydrochloride (Betaine HCL), one of the ingredients in the formula, has a naturally strong smell that can definitely be described as fish-like. Betaine HCL is included to support the absorption of protein and certain vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin B12 and calcium.

So the medicinal or fish-like smell from Betaine HCL, as well as the B vitamins, is completely natural and normal.

Why are nutrients that used to be measured in international units (iu) now measured in milligrams or micrograms?

Q: Why are nutrients that used to be measured in International Units (IU) now measured in milligrams or micrograms, and what is the difference between these measurements?

A: International Units (IU) were historically used to measure vitamin A, beta-carotene, vitamin D, and vitamin E. However, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) required supplement facts labels to change from IU to metric units, which is why these nutrients are now shown in milligrams (mg) or micrograms (mcg).

It is important to understand that although the measurement standard has changed, the actual amounts of these nutrients have not changed in any affected Hammer Nutrition products.

Conversions

  • Beta-Carotene: 1 IU = 0.6 mcg beta-carotene
Example: A 7-capsule serving of Premium Insurance Caps contains 7,500 IU of beta-carotene, now shown as 1,800 mcg.
  • Vitamin E: 1 IU = 0.67 mg vitamin E (d-alpha tocopherol)
Example: A 3-capsule serving of Race Caps Supreme contains 400 IU of vitamin E, now shown as 268 mg.
  • Vitamin D: 1 IU = 0.025 mcg
Example: 1 softgel of EnDuro D contains 2,000 IU of vitamin D, now shown as 50 mcg.

Why a Multivitamin for Athletes?

We all aim to eat well… but real life happens.

Between modern food quality, busy schedules, and high training demands, it’s easy to fall short on key nutrients. Premium Insurance Caps are designed to bridge the gap between:

  • what you should be getting from diet, and
  • what you’re actually getting day to day.

This makes it a smart “start here” supplement for:

  • hard-training athletes
  • active people
  • anyone who wants a stronger nutritional foundation

Key features:

  • Higher elemental calcium and magnesium
  • 50mg quercetin per capsule
  • Amino acid–chelated minerals for improved absorption
  • Digestive enzymes to support nutrient uptake
  • All-vegetable capsules

Available Sizes

  • 120 capsules – ideal starter size
  • 210 capsules – longer supply for regular users

Non-packeted capsules also make it easier to adjust your dose (instead of being locked into a set “daily pack”).

HOW TO USE

Take 1–7 capsules daily with food, based on your needs:

1–2 capsules daily (with a meal)

Best for:

  • children / young adults
  • people with an excellent whole-foods diet

3–4 capsules daily (with a meal)

Most common for:

  • adults training under ~8–10 hours/week

7 capsules daily (split across 2 meals)

Higher-potency option for:

  • high-volume training well over ~10 hours/week

Pro Tips

  • Because of its calcium, selenium, and biotin, this formula can be suitable for women looking for broader nutrient support (including pre-/post-natal needs) — always check with a healthcare professional if pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Allow 2–3 hours between taking Premium Insurance Caps and starting exercise (some people find it sits better that way).
  • Store in the fridge or a cool, dark place.
