Why We Avoid Artificial Sweeteners
Artificial sweeteners are widely used because they provide sweetness without adding sugar or calories. However, there has been ongoing debate for many years about their long-term health effects.
Acesulfame K
Acesulfame K is an artificial sweetener that is around 200 times sweeter than sugar. Although it has been approved for use in food products, some health experts and consumer groups have raised concerns about the quality and age of the original safety studies.
Sucralose
Sucralose starts as a sugar molecule but goes through a chemical process that changes its structure. Some people prefer to avoid it because it is a highly processed ingredient that does not occur naturally.
Aspartame
Aspartame has been one of the most controversial artificial sweeteners for decades. Some people report sensitivity to it, while others choose to avoid it due to ongoing discussions around potential health concerns.
