FAQS
What is the difference between HEED and Endurolytes or Endurolytes Fizz?
Each scoop of HEED provides 110 calories and roughly the same amount of electrolytes as one Endurolytes capsule or half a tablet of Endurolytes Fizz. Endurolytes and Endurolytes Fizz do not provide calories.
For many athletes, one to two scoops of HEED per hour will cover calorie needs and part of their electrolyte needs. Heavier athletes, or those training and racing in hot conditions, may need additional electrolyte support from Endurolytes capsules or Endurolytes Fizz tablets.
HEED: calories + electrolytes
Endurolytes / Endurolytes Fizz: electrolytes only
What is the best way to carry Endurolytes capsules while exercising?
There are three practical options:
- Plastic flip-top capsule dispenser – holds around 20 capsules and fits easily into a jersey pocket
- Quick Coin dispenser – a soft plastic coin purse that works well as a pill dispenser
- Reclosable baggies – a simple and effective option
All of these help keep the capsules dry and make dosing easy.
Important: Do not carry Endurolytes or Endurolytes Extreme capsules loose in your pocket or anywhere they may come into contact with sweat or moisture. Once wet, the vegetable capsule can melt quickly, making dosing difficult. This is especially important because both products contain ginger root, which is soothing to the stomach but may irritate the skin if the powder comes into contact with it.
What is the difference between Endurolytes, Endurolytes Extreme, and Endurolytes Extreme Powder?
Endurolytes is the original full-spectrum electrolyte supplement, with a balanced blend of sodium chloride, calcium, magnesium, potassium, and manganese. It is well suited to athletes following a low- to moderate-sodium diet.
Endurolytes Extreme contains three times more sodium chloride and potassium per capsule than the original Endurolytes. It may be the better choice:
- during unusually hot or humid events
- when you are not acclimatised to the conditions
- if you follow a high-sodium diet
- if you are prone to cramping
- during early-season training, when fitness is still developing
In these situations, Endurolytes Extreme helps meet higher electrolyte demands more efficiently, with fewer capsules.
Why do I need electrolytes?
Electrolytes are essential for keeping the body functioning properly during exercise. They support muscle contraction, heart rhythm, and nerve signalling. Long before cramping begins, performance may already be affected by electrolyte depletion.
The goal of electrolyte replenishment is to support steady, uninterrupted performance and help the body continue functioning efficiently throughout exercise.
Why use Endurolytes products instead of salt tablets?
Many athletes focus only on sodium, but proper electrolyte replenishment requires more than salt alone. The body also needs calcium, magnesium, potassium, and manganese.
A full-spectrum electrolyte product helps support normal body functions and performance more effectively than salt tablets alone. Endurolytes products are designed to provide a balanced supply of electrolytic minerals, helping to support endurance performance and reduce the risk of imbalance or depletion.
How does Endurolytes Fizz compare with Endurolytes capsules?
One Endurolytes Fizz tablet is roughly equal to two Endurolytes capsules, so half a tablet is approximately equal to one capsule.
The formulas are not identical, but they are very similar in electrolyte mineral content and can generally be dosed in a similar way. Endurolytes Fizz uses different mineral forms to create its effervescent properties and to dissolve quickly in water. It also contains slightly more sodium and potassium than the equivalent amount of Endurolytes in capsules.
Can I take Anti-Fatigue Caps with Endurolytes?
Yes. All Endurolytes products are fully compatible with Anti-Fatigue Caps and with other Hammer Nutrition supplements.
Do I need to take an Endurolytes product with Perpetuem?
Yes. Perpetuem should be treated as a calories-only fuel. Although it contains some minerals, it does not include a deliberately formulated full-spectrum electrolyte blend like HEED. Electrolyte needs should therefore be covered separately with one of the Endurolytes products.
Do any Endurolytes products contain caffeine?
Only the Cola flavour of Endurolytes Fizz contains caffeine, with 20 mg per tablet.
No other Endurolytes Fizz flavours contain caffeine, and none of the other Endurolytes products contain caffeine.
Which Endurolytes products contain the least citric acid?
Only Endurolytes Fizz and Endurolytes Extreme capsules contain citric acid.
In Endurolytes Fizz, citric acid is used in a minimal amount to support the effervescent reaction. In Endurolytes Extreme, it is present as potassium citrate, which is used because it provides a high amount of elemental potassium and is very well absorbed.
Do any Endurolytes products have allergen exposure?
No. All Endurolytes products are produced in a facility free from tree nuts and allergens and are third-party batch tested for purity and consistency.
Are all Endurolytes products gluten-free?
Yes. All Endurolytes products are gluten-free.
Why do some Hammer fuels contain what seems to be a high amount of manganese?
The manganese levels in these products are intended for active people and athletes, who use and lose nutrients at a much higher rate than sedentary people. Manganese plays an important role in energy production, muscle cell enzyme reactions, insulin support, and antioxidant protection.
Because only a small percentage of orally consumed manganese is absorbed, and because exercise increases nutrient use and loss, the amounts included in Hammer products are considered justified and beneficial for athletes.
Products containing manganese
- Endurolytes – 0.25 mg per capsule
- Endurolytes Fizz – 3.0 mg per tablet
- Endurolytes Extreme – 1.0 mg per capsule
- Endurolytes Extreme Powder – 0.5 mg per scoop
- HEED – 2.0 mg per scoop
- Recoverite – 2.9 mg per 2-scoop serving
- Organic Vegan Recoverite – 0.6 mg per 2-scoop serving
-
Premium Insurance Caps – 1.07 mg per capsule
How to Measure One Scoop of Endurolytes Extreme Powder
No scoop? No problem. Here is the conversion you need:
Endurolytes Extreme Powder
1 level scoop (3 cc) = 1 teaspoonIs the flavour of Endurolytes Extreme Powder mild?
Question:
Is the flavour of Endurolytes Extreme Powder mild enough that, when mixed with Hammer Nutrition fuels such as Perpetuem, it does not overpower or noticeably change the taste?Answer:
Yes. The natural watermelon flavour is very subtle and mild, so it should not change the taste of Perpetuem or other Hammer Nutrition fuels very much, if at all.Is Endurolytes Extreme Powder carbonated like Endurolytes Fizz?
No. Unlike Endurolytes Fizz, which is an effervescent tablet, Endurolytes Extreme Powder is not carbonated when mixed with water.
The mineral forms used in Endurolytes Extreme Powder were chosen because they are well absorbed and dissolve very well in solution.
Does Endurolytes Extreme Powder mix fully in solution?
Yes. The powder is micronised, which means it is ground into extremely small particles. This helps it mix completely in solution without leaving residue at the bottom of your water bottle.
